A couple of months back I was in a store that had some comfortable-looking linen dresses with pockets. I bought two (and one nicer one) with the idea that I would wear them all summer. Linen has – according to my obsessive Internet research – magical properties. It absorbs liquid (sweat, ew) and dries quickly so it feels very cool. It wrinkles like mad but I am a slob that doesn’t care one little bit. Plus, the dresses are like wearing a giant shirt so it’s basically like wearing my pajamas, but people say, “Oh! You’re in dress!”
More about linen: at the garage sale there were some tablecloths and towels, and some of them were linen. I had read – in my obsessive Internet research – that linen towels are wonderfully absorbent and dry fast. I tried the little towels and loved them, so I went and bought a yard-and-a-half of linen (11 bucks!) for larger towels. Tonight I cut it in half and hemmed it and have announced to Lloyd that this is how it is now. These are summer towels that will dry faster in our iffy, perhaps mildew-y bathroom. (Another story for another time.)
Lloyd, as you can imagine, is thrilled, but look how much money I saved!
