In the interest of stretching our dollars, Lloyd is working his auction magic to furnish the new center. Today we had not one, but two to attend. The first was a regular surplus action, but the second was an insurance company that was downsizing. I drew the short straw for that one, since they were running at the same time.
It was super-weird. They had it in the actual office, but the building seemed abandoned, like the rapture had just happened. Only with lot numbers
The actual auction took place in a conference room. They had a bunch of chairs jammed in there and showed the lots on a screen. It was so strange. It started late so people were grumpy, and then everything sold for such high prices. Desks sold for $250-$400, which is currently way out of my price range. I gave up after an hour and left.
Lloyd had much better success. He was able to score a bookshelf, 4-drawer lateral file, credenza (not shown) and desk – all solid oak – for $205. Now that’s how auctions are supposed to work.
It was hotter than Hades, and we had to stick around for a few more items. I decided to play around with decorating Rebecca’s office.
We have to go back to Lincoln to collect the rest of it. Here’s hoping for a cooler day.

I’ve missed TWO days of commenting?!? My daily schedule has been so messed up lately.
