I will post about the circles soon, Kristi. For now, I have a couple more things about Saturday. First, the middle ‘conference’ table is made up of four little tables that Lloyd bought at auctions. The dark two are a set height, but the lighter two needed to be adjusted. The first table went smoothly, but on the second table, every single bolt was stuck. We were stripping them with the screwdriver, so I went to get a vice grip to turn them. “What are you doing?” Lloyd asked.
“I’m gonna ‘Lauren’ it,” I said smugly.
“…I don’t think that means what you think it means, ” Lloyd said cautiously.
Hmmph. It’s true. But my way worked, so there!
Another example: I brought in a skinny table because I thought it would be useful. Lloyd scoffed and said, “If you do find a use for that, you have to buy a new one because that one is so ugly.” He was not wrong. But…..
One roll of decades-old-wood-grain-contact-paper later and….
Boom! Laurened! (Don’t touch it too much. We already have a tear in the top. Remember, that stuff was old.)
No worries. The tear was going to be topped by a big book holder. We didn’t have one, but we have had one of these forever:
Doesn’t that look like it would be fun? One way it’s a set of steps, but turn it over and it’s a rocking boat. A rocking boat that makes children scream and scream as they slowly rock across the floor and then smack into the wall. No, thanks.
But…… Laurened!
It holds them well and we’ll actually see them and perhaps even use them. (Lots of these were donated and have been living in a box.)
The banner picture is a close-up of the cross on the wall. We have several pieces from Reinhold Marxhausen (I wrote about him in the yard sale posts) and have decorated the room with some of his work. A cross made from wooden dowels and trumpet pieces? He was Laurening before Laurening was cool.

Ha! I like that picture of the girl walking on the bookshelf. It’s funny.

My kindergarten classroom had a homemade rocker/stair. Very rarely was it turned to the rocker part.
I like that you find a use for all those things instead of throwing them away. And thanks for the globe.

You totally “Laurened” it! That table looks brand-spankin’ new!
