As I was eating breakfast Tuesday morning, I checked Facebook. Someone had posted that the roads were unexpectedly icy. I forgot about it until we were on the way out the door. I stepped out and said, “Be careful, the roads are bump bump bump oof ow.” Those last words were said as I slipped and fell down all the stairs, landing on my back. It was slick. Lloyd called to me from the top of the steps, “I wanted to help you but I knew I’d fall, too.” Yeah, no foolin’.
We threw salt all over our driveway and sidewalk and rushed to school so we could throw sand all over the parking lot. That stupid concrete has to cure for a year, so no salting can be done yet.
Anyway, after the rush of taking care of everything wore off, I now have a very sore back, a sore arm and a bruised hip. I’m going to bed.

Ouch. I hope there is no Permanent Damage. More and more, that is becoming a concern for me. I don’t mind a bruise or a pulled muscle… but a fracture? …scarring? …a torn something-or-other? That’ll stay with me forever. Yikes!
Deborah says
That is exactly why I did not try the hover board.
Sorry about your fall, Lauren. That ice surprised everyone.
Lloyd says
It really was a spectacular fall. She went from upright to flat on her back in about 0.47 seconds. Literally flat on her back. I think the fall might have been worse if the ice wasn’t so thick. she went far enough that she didn’t hit her head on the steps. So there’s that.
Mom says
Dad says he has been there and done that. Salt is way to go.
Jill says
I feel your pain, Lauren. Literally. Did the same thing yesterday. OWWW.
Lauren's mom says
So sorry, Lauren.
Elaine Royuk says
I am feeling so sorry for you!
Kris says
So sorry, Lauren! A few years ago, Jason was visiting some shut-ins and fell off their porch. Not wanting them to worry, he lied when they asked and told them he hadn’t even slipped. Unfortunately, their across-the-street neighbor ratted him out later that day when she called to make sure that the man who fell off the porch that morning was okay. Hope you’re feeling better soon!
