It was a traditional Sommerer 30-hour vacation, in-line with our 18-hour camping trips. We drove down to Kansas City around 10 on Saturday, and were home by 4 on Sunday.
I had some things I wanted to get for my classroom, and of course – I just like to walk around IKEA. Endlessly. Lloyd was funny, because I think this might be the first time that he looked around the store with some interest, and was asking questions like, “You mean you can put that desktop with those legs? Or a different set of legs?” I kept congratulating him on becoming the newest disciple.
He scored big with some clear tubs. Over the past few weeks, he has slowly but surely been making the basement a non-disaster zone. There are no ‘before’ photos because he forgot to take some, plus I think they might be used in court as evidence against us. Can you go to jail for Extreme Messiness?
Anyway, I do have a few ‘in progress’ shots:
Here’s a similar view a week later:
I think the funniest part is that he took over one food/cooking appliance shelf to house more books. Soon we will have no food shelves.
I’m not complaining about the cleaning, though. We all know I’m incapable of it. In fact, while we were at the hotel last night we were watching ‘Storage Wars’. (Yay for real t.v.!) As the auction people were assessing the value of each storage shed’s contents, Lloyd asked, ‘What do you think the contents of your basement are worth?”
Um, since we got those IKEA bins, I’m going to say a solid $60.

Dang it, I was going to straighten up my basement a little this weekend. I sat on the couch instead. Maybe I just need to go to IKEA for inspiration. Or I need to hire another big curb dumpster to throw things in.

Looks awesome. I should do mine or my part.
