I slept in this morning and didn’t go to church. (Shhhhh….my stomach still felt funny.) I only had one cup of coffee, a bunch of yogurt (go, bacteria!) and some Tums. I piddled around and did a little more cleaning.
Around noon, Lloyd sent me a text – he’s in Texas, by the way. Heh. A text from Texas. I just got that. Anyway, he needs some boxes for the art show, and box-looking-at was one of the things that didn’t get done on Saturday. I ate a couple more Tums and headed to Lincoln via the interstate. At one point, I saw that there was a little smoke coming from the grass on the side. I didn’t have any water in the car so I got off at the exit and called 911. “Hey, no big emergency, but I think the grass in on fire by the Milford exit.” He took down the location and said someone would be right there.
I pulled up to the exit and watched. The smoke grew. I watched a little longer and the smoke GREW. I was kicking myself for not just pulling over and stomping on it, but that would have been stupid, too. Just about when I was going to call them back and say. “HURRY!”, the first truck pulled up and the second one was a couple of minutes later. They had it put out in about three minutes.
Whew.
