So, I have enough material from this trip for several posts. Today’s will be strictly birthday-related. 🙂
Mom mentioned this summer that she’d love to have us all come to Colorado for her 80th birthday. She’s been dealing with myeloma and also her broken hip, so it was an easily-granted request.
We had a wonderful time. It’s been a few years since we were all together. Mark arrived on Thursday, then Phil, Keren and her sons and I all arrived on Friday. We visited, had a delicious dinner at a restaurant and then every collapsed in bed and slept soundly. (I will tell you about sleeping arrangements in another post.)
Saturday was great. We were not in any rush to do anything, so we sat around and visited, then did a few errands for the actual birthday. We ate dinner all together, but this picture won’t stop being upside-down.
After my parents went to bed we did a little decorating. When we were kids, you would wake up on your birthday and your cake and presents would be arranged on the dining table. 🙂
On Sunday we all got to sit together at church and that was fantastic! *Birthday Miracle: We were all on time and ready for church early!
Afterward we had coffee, cake and snacks with the congregation. It was all the fun of a big party with no stress! One of my parents’ friends had his birthday the day before so they celebrated together.
Later in the day we had a proper party. We invited some of Mom and Dad’s friends to come have a late lunch and cake. It was just right. We kept it short because Mom gets tired quickly.
It was a wonderful birthday!
