I’ve been trying to take care of some loose ends at work and have been doing a terrible job of it. Oh well, slight forward motion is better than none, except when it means that in the future you have to undo the half-***ed job you just did, so maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about.
When we designed the building, we knew there was a little nook in one of the toddler rooms that was a supervision issue. No big deal – we just put up a gate. A very, very expensive made-by-Amish-people gate.
It has worked out alright, except that this year’s group can’t seem to keep their hands off it. They try to climb it or use it like a ladder. Our director was looking into ordering something different, but I convinced her to let me Lauren it. Four strips of posterboard and an old mirror later and….
Eventually the paper strips should be interesting cloth weavings, but this has been working out pretty well.
Also, there is a cabinet that is in the corner. It wasn’t meant to go there, we just had an extra. It’s not properly installed yet, and hasn’t been for months. Tonight I checked behind its base and there were soooo many toys that were stuck there. I took them out, then temporarily ‘attached’ some baseboard. I won’t go into the details, but it involved some screws, washers, duct tape and paint so that I wouldn’t actually glue the stuff or poke holes in it.
Good enough.
