Keva Planks for the win!

My friend Kate. Wait. Let me complain a little before telling my story. Did you know that early childhood staff have to complete twelve hours of inservice credit every year? That’s just a fact you should know. Twelve hours that is usually on their own time.

Anyway, Kate went to an inservice about blocks and came back with awesome information. She also talked about Keva blocks and I said I knew about them and deeply wanted some. Well, as it turns out, one of our other teachers had a set! We’ve been playing with them all week.

The thing about these blocks is that they are all cut very precisely so the structures you can make are incredibly stable. The set came with a little booklet of inspirational ideas, and a photo from a museum where they used a cherry picker to build a 58-foot high tower.

I only had two hundred blocks, my arms and a chair, but I did my best:
