While driving to Wal*Mart on Sunday, I was struck by something in the telephone poles. Hmmmmmmm…..
(Thank you for the screenshot, Google Earth.)
Did you know that we are the St. John Foxes?
Huh.

Several people that I know are going through some sorrowful times. My brother’s friend just died, my mom’s friend got some devastating legal news, people are going through health and life changes. You might be one of them, too, but I just don’t know about it. I’m dealing with some stuff at work that is difficult, but you can’t talk about that on the internet.
Several times this weekend I’ve been brought back to the saying, “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” Long ago I read an article and the gist of it was that there is no ‘I’ve got it harder than you’. There is no ‘harder than, there’s just hard’. Everyone is going through something. While we are grateful for the blessings God has given us, we are also finding ways to slog through the difficulties.
I guess the point of this post is that whether I know your difficulties or not, I’m praying for the sad and downtrodden.
I’m also praying that the people you come into contact with build you up in some small way, or at the very least, they don’t make it worse. However, if they do, maybe it turns out that they need to be prayed for, too. After all, everyone is going through something.

Facebook is reminding me that this weekend is my 30th high school reunion. I am not going because 1) there are things to do at work, and 2) I don’t want to. Those people are very nice, but I don’t need to be reminded how old I am or have all kinds of reminders about how much I have forgotten. I’ll just forget stuff here. 🙂

I’m just tired. The energy at school has been positive, which is quite nice, but I am just tired at the end of the day. I didn’t get a post written last night, and now I’m making breakfast before I go. I hope you all have a lovely Thursday. 🙂

I am really on a roll with the ‘Who’s kidding who’ portion of my summer. There are so many things at the center that I’ve been thinking, “Someday I’ll get to that,” but today I went ahead and got some done. In reverse chronological order, a few more circles up in the hallway,
the latest in our homemade ‘stained glass panels’ up. (Both of these jobs required the ladder.)
There is no ‘before’ photo, but this area of the kitchen counter had a ‘Staff Communication Station’ page laminated to the corner for nearly two years. I finally took it off.
Unfortunately, since that area was so protected, now it has a different finish. I tried scratching it with some steel wool and it’s a little better.
In one of our entryways, I’ve had some boards on the floor so the cart doesn’t hit the wall. The boards always get shuffled around, though, so I finally put some big boards up on the wall to be a bumper.
It’s cobbled together from leftover pieces of window trim, but absolutely nobody is going to notice or care.
This morning I finally brought up some stuff to make a ‘kitchen’. We’ve had an L-shaped piece of countertop left over from construction, and I bought a cheap sink at the Habitat for Humanity store a loooong time ago. My dream was to build some supports for the whole thing and have a dedicated play space. Who’s kidding who? I broke one end off the counter, propped it up on some tires and called it good. They loved it. They served hamburgers, mulch soup and cheesy tacos. I highly recommend the tacos.
After everyone went home I waterproofed the exposed edges, but honestly, this just needs to last through the summer.
Good enough.
