Several people that I know are going through some sorrowful times. My brother’s friend just died, my mom’s friend got some devastating legal news, people are going through health and life changes. You might be one of them, too, but I just don’t know about it. I’m dealing with some stuff at work that is difficult, but you can’t talk about that on the internet.
Several times this weekend I’ve been brought back to the saying, “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” Long ago I read an article and the gist of it was that there is no ‘I’ve got it harder than you’. There is no ‘harder than, there’s just hard’. Everyone is going through something. While we are grateful for the blessings God has given us, we are also finding ways to slog through the difficulties.
I guess the point of this post is that whether I know your difficulties or not, I’m praying for the sad and downtrodden.
I’m also praying that the people you come into contact with build you up in some small way, or at the very least, they don’t make it worse. However, if they do, maybe it turns out that they need to be prayed for, too. After all, everyone is going through something.

Beautiful post Lauren! You really should write a book.

It’s interesting to read about the attribution of that quote. I’ve seen it attributed to ancient Greek scholars, but ultimately, it seems it is a much younger quote than that.
