Wednesday was the last day of summer. All of my children this year were headed to kindergarten, so it was kind of fun talking about our day of ‘lasts’ without having to say to a few children, “Except you. You’ll be back here next week.”
They have been ready to go for a while. All of their play has been too big – like butterflies itching to get out of the cocoon. They are going to love kindergarten.

So, do you get the rest of the week off from the kids?
Brad says
What is “too big” play? Just yesterday, one of my co-workers who teaches first grade was talking to the third-grade teacher and saying she didn’t like how the big kids “ran around all over the place”.
Lauren says
Yes. This. Lots of bickering and arguing, lots of crashing in the block area, lots of sneaking around doing things they shouldn’t (making weapons for their paper people), lots of ‘let’s pretend’ play with much more conversation beforehand -- like a director explaining how the scene should look before yelling, “Action”.
