There was a problem at work and it needed some makin’ do. The toddler teachers were frustrated with the little nook that leads onto the playground. It’s where the dots are stored, a dehumidifier, the children’s boots, and other large things that they just need occasionally. They have some new students starting next week and wondered about making this into a kind of ‘mud room’. I’m on it!
It was pretty bad.
I did buy two shelves to act as a prototype. If this works, something more permanent should be built. (Not by me.)
They worked there, but it was a tight fit for the cots.
An ‘L’-shaped configuration would be better.
There was a lot of cobbling and reconfiguring. That 3×3 white shelf? It was falling apart. I beefed it up with screws and covered it’s ugliness with contact paper. It felt like an episode of Trading Spaces.
Overall, it’s a great start. The teachers get to percolate on what they like and what they’d change. I look forward to future tinkering!
