Lloyd was in Omaha for a conference Wednesday night, so I had the whole house to myself. I knew I’d need to walk to work, but that wasn’t a big deal. I hit snooze a couple of times and when I woke up, I realized that I had turned my first alarm off. I had been snoozing my ‘get out of the shower’ alarm (I’m weird about alarms) and was LATE.
Once at school, I had my priorities straight and put a fairy door on the stump outside. Nothing like using a drill in those pre-dawn hours. (No photo of the finished door. Remember, it was pre-dawn.)
Burned. This was burned Wednesday night.
Drilled. This is for the ‘handle’, which is a big hex screw. This reads like the world’s dumbest children’s book, doesn’t it?
The day…. fell apart. Many, many children were having many, many difficulties so I spent many, many minutes of my day putting out fires for both my room and the others. It was not pleasant. It didn’t help that yesterday was so gloriously warm and beautiful and then today was a cold, windy, near-rainy mess. I spent first recess helping a little girl find her inner calm and the second recess helping a girl with a hurt leg. I don’t even know if they found the fairy door.
I had my first round of parent-teacher conferences and was not quite as put-together as I’d like to be, but my kids have awesome parents and it all worked out.
Here’s to Friday.
