Lloyd is such a good person. He listens to me rant and rave about how smelly this old house is, and looks up information about the differences between air filters and ionizers and hepatitis filters and the like. Today we were at Menard’s and he wanted to spend some big money on an air purifier, I mentioned that I’ve heard of just strapping a filter on the back of a box fan. Since we’ve spent a fair amount of money in toaster repairs and tree trimming, we went the cheap route for now,
Suction from the fan is keeping it on, not tape.
After setting it up, I’ve watched lots and lots of YouTube videos on the subject. People have strong thoughts about the construction, so I will be sure to not run this when we’re asleep or not home, and I cleaned some serious lint out of the motor of this old fan.
There are so many technical terms regarding this: microns and Merv ratings and whatever. I don’t care about this. My filter has a charcoal layer, so I’m hoping that will help with smells.
