Lauren Hofman Sommerer attended public school in Delta, Colorado, but she managed to turn out ok. She atttended Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska because her brother – a newly-hired admissions counselor – said, “They’ll fire me if you don’t come here.” She took her sweet time (five years) settling on a major and managed to snag a husband at the same time. Lauren and said husband, Lloyd, drove a battered truck and a tiny U-Haul to Maryland to set up shop for two years as ‘teachers’, but Lauren really just sat in the drive-through at Taco Bell and cried every lunch hour. After realizing that the murderers were getting closer, they moved to Nebraska where Lloyd was in charge of all the corn. Lauren enjoyed two months of retirement but was then told they were not going to be able to pay the rent unless she got off her duff and found a job. She applied at the church’s preschool on Friday, and they were desperate enough to employ her that Monday. She was terrible at her job, but slowly got better every year, until that 20th year, when things started to go back downhill. She is currently wondering where her skill set would possibly work out elsewhere.

That is the real story. No exaggerations, no lies.
