We all know I am super frugal, right? Take these scrubbers. I think we bought this box at Sam’s club over a dozen years ago. I have even given some away for housewarming gifts, but these things are going to last forever. Why? Because I chop them up.
I don’t like sponges or washcloths when I do dishes by hand, because food gets in the fibers and totally grosses me out. I like a scrubber because if it gets gross I just throw it in the dishwasher. However, I don’t need a whole giant one. I recognize that these are much larger than the ones you just buy in the grocery store, but even those are larger than needed.
So, I chop it up. I only need the part that is directly under my fingertips, and one piece will last for weeks if not months. I don’t think I’m ever going to use them all up. There are still five giant pieces in the basement.
At school, I do the same thing with the cheap magic erasers that we use. If you use a whole magic eraser, the whole thing is ruined after a couple of uses, but if you snip a little strip off one end – you use that little piece until it’s done. I can get two or three uses out of that little strip.
did I mention I’m cheap?

If only you could do that with other things: “Need new clean socks? Just cut a small piece off of a bigger socks!”

I laughed out loud!
