“When Life hands you lemons, politely thank Life, and throw them away when Life isn’t looking”. I didn’t make that up. I just typed it a couple of sentences ago.
But we did end up with lemons a while ago. I think they were left over from something that Lauren was doing at school. Some new disciplinary technique from what I understand. I knew what to do with lemons. Lauren tried to offer some unneeded advice:
“That sugar won’t dissolve if you don’t heat the water up first.”
This, of course, is sound advice in most cooking situations, but does not apply at all when making lemonade. The advice I was looking for was more along the lines of:
“If you use this organic sugar, you won’t have to worry about any of it dissolving before it gets to your mouth.”
Or maybe:
“For some reason I saved all of this extra lemon pulp that you could add to the mix.”
Sadly, neither of these two suggestions were forthcoming. I did, however, manage to remember that we had frozen strawberries in the freezer.
