One of the things that I hardly ever, ever do is wash my truck. Really, I treat that vehicle with very little respect. I’ve never checked the oil (I think Lloyd might), never put in wiper fluid, I think I’ve vacuumed it out once, and the interior lights haven’t worked for three or four years.
Yesterday, however, the weather was awesome. It started out cold and freezing, but by afternoon it was sunny, warm and lovely! Driving home, I thought, “I’m gonna run this thing through a car wash!” I spent the maximum amount – six whole dollars! Undercarriage wash, pre-rinse, triple wash, spot-free – the works! It was so shiny, I even thought about vacuuming it again.Â
When I woke up this morning, it was raining. Wouldn’t you know it.
Now, Lloyd arrives home last every night, so he parks in the driveway behind my truck with his car. For this long week of cooking, however, I’ve been driving Lloyd’s car to the center, and when he leaves home he bring the truck to my work and switches vehicles. Today, though, when I went to my ‘truck’ – the car was still there! I called to ask why he drove the truck to Lincoln.Â
“I’m going to buy a big screen t.v.” he replied.Â
“Really?!” I asked. Â
“No, I took your truck in to get it washed.”
“wuh?”
Yep. He spent twenty bucks on it. I can’t get mad, though, because honestly – what are the chances? So here’s our shiny, shiny, shiny truck that gets washed twice a year. Good luck, rest of 2007.

I don’t think one is supposed to wear Hawaiian shirts until after Memorial Day.
Lloyd says
Our final dressup day for Lutheran School’s Week is “Spirit Day†where we wear our school colors, or any other Lincoln Lutheran clothing. A few years ago our booster club ordered a sample Lincoln Lutheran Hawaiian shirt, and I got the only one.
Beth says
Does it actually say Lincoln Lutheran on it somewhere? And does that mean you have to wear it twice during Spirit Week…because surely they haven’t abandoned Hawaiian Day…surely…

“You make me feel brand newww, I sing this song for you, ’cause you make me feel, brand new!” … sniff,
Lloyd's Mom says
