Journal, Lauren

Little car go vroom.

I’m going to try something new at home visits this year. I always take along a handbook and a little brochure about my class, but I’m going to make a little ‘Welcome to Preschool’ DVD. It will show what our room looks like, what our schedule is, and hopefully make new children more comfortable with going somewhere that’s not home. Since there are many little things that some adults do that make my blood boil, I’m going to try to include some of the correct procedures at school – most significantly, how to enter our parking lot the right way. (Drivers need to be making a right-hand turn.) I’m re-enacting it with a kitty in a blue car. What do you think? (There will be several shots.)

Maybe I just need some medication. That might be easier.

Good luck with the parking lot thing. We have parents who don’t follow directions even at the end of the school year in spite of directions since August. Personally, I think it’s an un-winnable battle.

I agree with Brad. Even if they finally nail the parking thing, they’ll start doing something else to tick you off. Go with the meds.

I agree with both Brad & Karla. At our school parents are not supposed to park along the curb -- the curb is for drop-off and pick-up only, but nothing ever changes. (The white zone is for loading and unloading only!) Parents still park along the curb making it difficult for anyone to actually navigate the parking lot. AARGH!!!!!

Wow, a teacher that makes house calls … awesome!

Nice parking illustration for the parents! The one problem I see, is only parents with blue convertibles will know where to go or not to go. What if you have a red car or a truck? Then what?

It’s not just an illustration. It’s a single frame from Lauren’s soon to be latest stop motion animation.

Maybe in your animation of parking procedures, you can have a plastic little Brad with a shovel wacking the little kitty in the head for parking in the wrong spot! That might bring the point home -- ha!

What is this I hear about Brad, a shovel, and a CAT? Does he have a dark side? He seemed so normal when I met him.
