Oops! Happy Birthday, Aaron!!!
Over at www.bradaptation.com they’re wondering about the jibblies. What are they? Well, to know that, you have to explore Homestar Runner (dot com).
I really can’t explain it. You either get it or you think it’s stupid, and chances are that most everybody will think it’s stupid. Lloyd and I (and Brad) happen to have senses of humor like middle school boys. (Actually, Lloyd and Brad took a while to appreciate it. I’m much less mature, and loved it right away.) My first introduction to it was when I was researching ukuleles in my early days, and came across the Luau. It’s an older cartoon, but I loved it for the uke.
More popular now are Strong Bad’s e-mails. You have to kind of think of this as a ‘Peanuts’ or ‘Garfield’ crew of today. They’re mostly clean – the worst word being ‘crap’ (which I never think children should say), references to ‘cold ones’ (but all the cartoon characters are of legal drinking age), and some boy humor.
Anyway, ‘the jibblies’ are from the Strong Bad e-mail ‘bottom 10‘. Strong Bad is…. well, Strong Bad. He gets the jibblies when he opens the closet where his brother’s creepy painting sits, whispering, “Come on in heeeere….” This e-mail is pretty long, but watch the first minute to get to the jibblies, ok?
That painting would give anyone the jibblies! I think I’m going to have bad dreams tonight. Ha!
For the record, I did laugh :D.
Ehhhhhxcellent!
Sooooo funny! (Leonardo laughed too… he and I also have the sense of humor of middle schoolers!)
Hysterical!! Thanks Lauren for explaining the jibbles … it’s now a part of my vocabulary. Now, can you shed any light on “Boy Howdy“?
(And I want that painting for my closet …hooo haaa)
Thanks for clearing that up. So it’s the jibblies I got when I saw Brad’s floor AND when I saw the damage to his truck last year. I feel better now – jibblies, jibblies, jibblies … Lauren, I’m sure there’s a song in there!
