It’s a slow news day at the Sommerer’s. Actually, I sliced my finger pretty good this morning but it’s too disturbing for me to look at it (and I love to look at that kind of stuff!), so I thought I’d spare you. Instead, I’ll tell you how I love to freak out the squirrels in the yard. It really takes no effort on my part, just letting the cats outside. Immediately the three squirrels that live in the trees get in position and chitter at the cats over and over and over and over. It cracks me up.  What do they think my fat cats are going to do? Take their acorns? My cats can’t change levels in our house without assistance.  Stupid squirrels. Hee hee.
Lauren's dad says
Are they nuts?
Lauren says
Ba-dum-bump. (I really need to figure out how to make that drum sound.)
Brad says
You should check out the Squirrel Defamation League. Be sure to catch the video at the bottom of the page. It is of a healthy squirrel carrying off a wounded one, presumably to eat it.
Beth says
And I’m guessing you’re a member, right?
Lloyd says
I had Brad more pegged for the the Squirrel Flamation League.

You should take a drive to my house, the back way. You’d be estatic … the way is lined with dead deer of all ages, raccoons, an occasional fox or possum & buzzards feasting on the remains. Right up your alley …
Peggy says
Speaking of which: Once while driving home with the usual van full of car-pool kids, all asleep, the car in front of me suddenly swerved but I couldn’t. A dead deer was in the road, so I steered my van over the deer so it went under my van, tires on either side of the deer. But the underneath of the van scraped over him. It was awful. About 5 minutes down the road, the kids began to wake up saying, “Mmmm … what smells so good … it’s smell like a barbeque!” For a week after the incident, the kids wanted to know why my van smelled like I was cooking something. I never told them. To bad I didn’t know Brad’s phrase then …
(ok … time to go home)
Karla says
Did it smell like you were baking chocolate chip cookies on the dash?
Peggy says
I think the squirrels are just trying to entice the cats into doing the chitterbug with them … or some other squirrely dance.
