I carved some stuff. One of the teachers at school grew a super-bumper crop of gourds and pumpkins and brought them for people to take. God bless Melanie, because otherwise I would have had squat. If there are any others left tomorrow I might carve a few more. I should take pictures of the amazing cross-breeds that she has – beautiful orange/green mixes, some super-lumpy. I did learn that gourds have much, much tougher skin than pumpkins. While taking the top off one of these guys my knife slipped (because I’m oh-so-careful) and I have a little gash on my palm. Stupid Lauren. My pictures are blurry, too, but I’m not re-taking them. Here’s to some decorations! Bring on the preschoolers!

Ha! Great “light and dark” shots! You should…
AAaaaahhhh…..
I regret to inform you that Brad is unavailable at this time. Perhaps he can get back to you some time when he’s not being bitten by a VAMPIRE!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Those are AWESOME!! Were the green colorings all natural?
Peggy says
Excellent! My favorite is the mostly green one … to the left of Mr. Bumpy Head. Great job!
Why don’t skeletons like parties?
Because they have no body to dance with.

This is the first time in 23 years, (that I’ve kept track of), that I have NOT carved a pumpkin. Tonight we will be the old people house on the block greeting trick or treaters with a plastic light-up jack-o-lantern.
Beth says
That’s so sad. Doesn’t it make you want to run home and carve a pumpkin just so the era doesn’t come to an end?
Kristi says
Today’s lunch specials: goblin eyes, albino blood, and worms in the dirt. Who’s in?
Beth says
Would Joanna like to come to McDonald’s with us?
Kristi says
The answer to this question is always YES!
Karla says
These remind me of when we made jack-o-melons!
Lauren says
I have a picture of that, I think!
Mark says
The almost-all-green one, but lit up in the dark, looks like Bob the Tomato or Larry the Cucumber from Veggie Tales! I’d like to see a Halloween version of “Silly Songs with Larry.” Anyone?
Lauren says
That is totally what I thought when we had all these gourds at the center. I had some jack-o-lantern stickers and when I put them on the tall ones, they looked like the gourds who eat the popcorn balls.
Christina says
I love them, can I take them home with me?
