Happy Birthday to me! I’m not a prime number anymore. Now my factors are 1,2 19 & 38. Just two years from 40!
I said I’d write about the shortbread dough. I’m getting hooked on these other websites where people are making delicious food in their homes and taking amazingly professional pictures of it. I’m a sucker for good advertising, and this recipe for coffee/chocolate shortbread cookies looked pretty yummy. I didn’t want to make a whole batch, so I halved it. It called for espresso, which I’ve never had. (I just made some freakishly strong coffee.) They have a delicate flavor, and it’s pretty cool that they don’t need eggs! I might just make these again sometime.
The funny part was that cutting the recipe in half made for some odd measurements, like 1/2 tablespoon of espresso (which is 1 1/2 teaspoons). The awesome spoons that my parents sent me are actually called ‘Odd-sized spoons’! 2 teaspoons, 1 1/2 teaspoons, 2/3 teaspoon, 1/8 teaspoon, and a pinch. Henceforth,I will make it my mission to divide recipes so I’ll need these measurements!!
You have to look at the pictures on the cookies site. You scoop the dough into a plastic bag to roll it – yay! I lament the waste of a plastic bag, but the coolness overrides that.

Woohoo! Happy birthday Lauren! 🙂 Where you really up at 1, or did you tell this to post then? Because I was up at 1; I could have called you to tell you happy birthday in person.
Lauren says
Thank you! It was time-delayed. Why the heck were you up at 1?? Must be a baby thing, eh? 🙂

Happy Birthday, Lauren! I wish I was there to give my wishes in person…and eat one of your cookies. By the way, http://www.101cookbooks.com is a fun food website. I haven’t made much of the stuff, but the pictures are usually pretty cool and her knowledge of food is impressive. Althought, there’s a pine nut and rosemary shortbread recipe on there right now. Seriously, who’s going to eat that??
