Feed the cats, tuppence a cat

Journal, Lauren

We are blessed with one cat who needs special prescription cat food or her pee-pee place gets broken, and another cat who could survive on dirt. Seriously, Cricket will eat almost any kind of food you give her – chips, cookies, dry spaghetti, all kinds of vegetables, bits of crud from the floor. We should have called her ‘Hoover’. Pfennig is a different story. She only eats kibble. If you show her a piece of actual meat, she’ll sniff it and then stare at it. I call her ‘Dead in the Wild’ – she’d never survive.

Anyway, to keep from going broke feeding them both prescription stuff, I ‘cut it’ with some cheaper stuff from Wal-Mart. That means that every few weeks I have to break out all the containers and prepare the concoction. It’s not exciting, but when you’re desperate for post material, it’ll do.

Geez, it’s 2 days before Christmas & now I have that sad, sad song in my head & the poor old woman & the poor hungry birds & their starving babies — *sniff*

“Step in time, step in time, step in time, step in time,
Never need a reason, never need a rhyme, step in time, you step in time.

Kick your knees up! Kick your knees up, step in time … ”

(dang it, the old woman over powers the chimney sweep)

Pfennig sounds a little like Peggy!

You don’t do this with ALL the food at your house, do you? No, don’t tell me. I don’t want to know.
