You guys (except for Brad and Beth), might not know how hard it is to come up with something everyday. It’s not like I live the most exciting life, y’know. This website is really about the mundane. I was pretty desperate for something to write about on Saturday, and for this post – I actually had to invent something. (It was that or show you peeled wallpaper again, and nobody needs that right now.) And I apologize in advance, but it involved bread dough again.
Let’s begin with the premise, “What if I want some homemade bread right now, not in an hour and fifteen minutes?” (That’s about how long it takes from plastic container in the fridge to in my mouth.) What could we use? Something that gets hot quickly. How about a waffle maker?
1. Break off a little hunk of dough. Speed up the warming process (usually 45 minutes the regular way), by popping it in the microwave on low for half a minute. Worry that God may not want you to try this experiment because at the exact moment you took this picture, a fuse blew and the microwave died.
2. Spread it on the waffle iron. Close. Wait. Worry that it’s not steam pouring out – maybe it’s smoke. Watch in wonder as it pushes the lid up much more than regular waffles.
Leave in for a few minutes. I want this thing crispy, not soggy. After the steam stops, open it up. Hmm. Not the most appetizing color.
But it’s good! Crispy enough for me, and it tasted normal. It was better dunked in butter, and I didn’t look at it. In a bread emergency, I might do it again.
