I’m not such an ice cream fan, meaning that it’s not something I crave every day, or even every week. But every so often, I feel a deep need to have a bit. I’m even a little snobby about it. I prefer Bryers, since all five ingredients in their vanilla ice cream are actually food items, instead of chemicals that are one step away from being a plastic (Thank you, Charles Gebhardt). Milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, and ….ice. I think. Whatever.
Anyway, if you are in the mood to try a Strawberry Cheesecake variety, do NOT buy the Bryers! Can you believe I’m saying it? I think the problem is that it’s ‘lite’ – but regardless - it’s too soft, too… not like cheesecake. Go for the Ben & Jerry’s. It costs the same for half as much, but it’s worth it. Great flavor, great texture and it’s got a solid, crunchy ripple of graham cracker. Do it.

You put your Ben and Jerry’s in a bowl? I eat mine right out of the carton! We always buy that in pairs -- one for me and one for Arron. My favorite is Chubby Hubby, with Ka-Berry Ka-Boom as my second. I better do some research and try this one. Thanks Lauren!! 🙂

Glad to see another soul up at this hour, Karla…we must be Moms of little likds…
Beth says
That’s KIDS…give me a break it’s 3am!

Interesting. You ladies brought up what I was thinking of posting about first. It will bring you no comfort, but here’s an interesting read about broken-up sleep.

Sadly, I wasn’t up with Anna -- she was still sleeping away. I was up for the day, getting ready to be to work at the buttcrack of dawn. Stupid software upgrade. It ended up failing anyway, so I get to do it all again in a couple of weeks.

I sometimes have sleep troubles, so I’m sorry for you my friends! In the last 6 months, I treat sleep with kid gloves, cutting off my caffeine intake as early as possible (while not interrupting my work--gotta keep those synapses firing up), kicking my kids out of my room, and even skipping CSI! Especially Miami which starts at the late, late hour of 10pm. And movies-ha! We cancelled our Netflix subscription, although we might have to take it up again if they get on-demand running smoothly with loads of titles.
Beth says
My sleep troubles have nothing to do with MY behavior! Just the behavior of my 6 month old :).
Deanne says
Well, the good thing is that he’s going to get older.
And have other, different, more terrifying behavior issues. (Can you tell I’m approaching adolescence with my two?)

There are some foods well worth being snobby about. I’m snobby about my Macaroni and Cheese. Only Kraft, please. And don’t even try to give me “homemade” stuff. It never out does Kraft.
Karla says
Hehehe I’m just the opposite about my mac and cheese -- I’m all about the homemade stuff. Keep me away from those orange colored noodles. 😉

I think the fifth ingredient that you’re having trouble remembering is “magic”. Isn’t that what makes good ice cream? …or was it “puppy dog tails”?
I hardly ever eat ice cream, but when I do, it’s Ben and Jerry’s “Cherry Garcia”.

My dad was an ice cream addict. I just don’t have room in my freezer, so when we get the hankering, a little Baskin Robbins does the trick--chocolate peanut butter, please!

Funny, I just had ice cream last night too. I always have chocolate. I like my on a cone, that’s a sugar cone of course. And actually I just fill the cone, I don’t pile it on top … Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Lloyd says
I love sugar cones. the other ones taste like cardboard.
Beth says
You’ve tried cardboard?
(Yes, I took the bait.)
Lloyd says
Oh yeah, Cardboard and I go way back. Corrugated has always been a favorite of mine, and anything with yellow #3 is good too. I can’t tell you how excited I was when I heard they were building a box factory in Seward. I’ve had the tour 5 times. Yummy free samples.

The whole time I was pregnant I was completely paranoid about how Anna was doing -- understandable given my history. Getting my kick counts done was brutal and towards the end I couldn’t stay awake long enough to count her movements. So I started eating a bowl of ice cream in the evenings. The sugar really got her moving around so I could get my counts in quickly and feel better that things were okay.
Hmmm… I wonder if that had anything to do with Anna being 9 lbs when she was born. 😉

I’m having trouble sleeping lately as well. I think it is the small person who keeps climbing into the middle of the bed at 2am and proceeding to sleep with his arms and legs in the form of a giant X, but I could be mistaken. It could just be that the house is too warm.
