You may wonder why this is so exciting, but for the past three Januarys (Januaries?) I’ve been meaning to buy a new coat. I have two winter coats – my “it’s-seriously-cold-outside” Eddie Bauer coat, which is really a guy’s coat and is stuffed with feathers from eighteen geese, and my weeny corduroy coat that I bought four years ago for forty dollars, in January. That’s when I learned that coats go on sale after Christmas, but I let too many coats go unbought by being so cheap. I almost lost out again this time. On Wednesday I saw a very nice coat with toggles – toggles! – but it was 70 bucks and I wasn’t willing to part with that. I went back today and, of course, it was gone. This one was there, though, and it’s from the same company. I liked it fine, and it turned out to be 50 dollars! Woo-hoo!
Now, the question is, belt or no belt? I will probably never, ever belt this, and I don’t like how long it hangs on the one side. Pulling it even looks pretty dang dorky. So, people, the decision is yours:
Belt?
No belt. (I’m on the phone with Brad during this photo shoot.)
Soooo cute! Way to go!
I’m a no-belt girl, myself. But I’ve been noticing, with the trench back in style this year (so says the WSJ, where I get my fashion advice) that a lot of people are going around with belts, and they look good. I just can’t be bothered with so much, personally.
I wish you had taken a picture of those toggles! I can’t even imagine what they are…
Hey… I don’t recall giving you permission to put my on-the-phone image on the Internets.
I like it with no belt. It looks kind of 18th century that way, and we all know what a good century that was.
No belt. You look so modern and chic. Talking on your cell phone, taking a picture, wearing such a trendy coat. You could be in a magazine. And I love that haircut!
I, too, say no belt. Very cool, and wherever did you get such a good deal?
Yep, no belt. And very nice purchase!
So I’m guessing toggles raise the price by about $20.
Don’t they have any less expensive toggles…maybe a coat with toggletts?
Does it surprise you that I prefer the belt? Cinching it at the smallest part of your waist will give you the appearance of being taller. Add a great looking pair of boots with heels and you are ready for the cat walk!
Are you in the bathroom???
Thanks, all, for your help. I’ve decided… to not decide. I’m pretty sure I’ll get some stain on the belt in the near future, since I’m not careful, and maybe that will clinch my decision.
(Beth, it’s from Younkers.)
If you’re really in the bathroom take care that it doesn’t drag in the toilet!
Oh, that doesn’t stain.
“How does she know that?” asks Annette.
Ooooooooooooo!!!! And I touched that belt tonight at church….groooosssssss……….
Mmmmuuuuhhhuuuaahhhahahahhh!!!!
Belt or beltless either one. What impresses me is the big pockets and what surprises one could find there.
