Out of the house!

March 1, 2008

Journal, Lauren

Hooray! For the first time in a month, we actually left the house on a Saturday. Today we were Super Accomplishers! We took all the recycling in, went to various stores to return stuff (the tripod, a guitar, a shirt), visited a super-cool small grocery store (it doesn’t take much to please me), and were home in time for me to watch my stories. The icing on the cake was that it was sunny and 65 degrees!

It’s more fun to take the back streets in Lincoln when we’re not in a hurry to get anywhere. While driving around, we saw what we need to do to the house. Look at the two houses at the end of this street:

Like brother and sister.

Cute, aren’t they? They even look a little like our house, huh? Well, get ready for this:

Fake out! The one on the right is the garage!! I have to have one! We tore the garage off our house about ten years ago when the siding was put on. Living without a garage is ok, but I would kill to have one this cool! It’s like the house has a Mini Me! Love it, love it, love it

Lincoln is like Weird House City, USA. I’ve seen that strange brick one, the half buried one, and now this. What’s going on with all those Lincolnites? Is there something in the water, or are they just born that way?

Here in Montgomery County, instead of retaining the look of the neighborhood, they would tear down the original house and build some monstrosity in the same place, with a garage, of course. This at least preserves the look of the neighborhood.

I wonder what their kitchen looks like. Lauren, can you knock on their door and see if they’ve done some interesting remodeling inside? (I really want to do that to one house in my neighborhood…)

I love crazy houses…Dnag it, why didn’t our garage burn down instead of the neighbors…then we could build a fun garage…dnag.

I’ve seen fancy garages, but never this.

I’d like to pretend that Lightning McQueen & Mater live there.

    Did anyone find the egg?
