Second Breakfast

July 1, 2008 by Lauren 14 Comments

When I’m working, I eat breakfast at home and then breakfast again with the children. I’ve become used to that, so on my days off I get a bit peckish an hour or so after breakfast. Today Brad was working in the garden and I was burning sticks in the chiminea. (I do so love fire.) I wondered, “Surely you can cook an egg in there, right?” Well, turns out you can – as long as you aren’t afraid of ingesting lots and lots of ash.

grease that foil

Fire! Fire! Fire!

Overexposed and ashy, but pretty good.

We split the lone egg, and Brad pronounced it delicious. I pronounced it ‘ehg’.

In other news, Lloyd has been doing some gardening of his own in Texas. He wrote, “Tell Brad to plant me up one of these in our yard.” I think having an agave would be great, since I could brew my own tequila from it. That would be a real timesaver.

Plant it up.

I met a cactus in Arizona that kills small animals for sport.

I’m bigger in Texas too; I’m just further away.

Let’s do some chicken next! Never mind the salmonella risk, that just adds to the adventure!

Our bacon mats are Really Big – in fact, I would take a picture of one, but it won’t fit on the camera.

Did Lloyd only pack one red, Hawaiian shirt?

Nope, there’s a picture on Christina’s blog with a different shirt. So he at least packed two.
