Happy Birthday to me!

December 17, 2008 by Lauren 9 Comments

*sigh*  The buffer year between me and forty is gone.  I’m 39 today!  I’ve got two whole days to lord my oldness over Lloyd before he joins me, and believe you me – I’ll milk it for everything it’s worth!  I’ll try to be nice, though, because I really like my present.

I didn’t really melt that wax on there. I’m not THAT crazy…..yet.

I share this auspicious day with the handsome Bill Pullman and the cake meister Duff Goldman.  (Hey, Baltimorians, make Brad take a picture of himself outside Charm City Cakes for me.)  So, well-wishes are welcome!  Bonus points if it rhymes.

Happy Birthday, Lauren! Crap, I forgot.
    It’s not that I don’t care; I’m not a robot.
Wrestling made me busy. I didn’t know how much
those after school hours kept me in touch.
Before I got ready to head off to school,
reading your announcement, I felt like such a tool.
I have no idea why my mind is such a void.
I haven’t just missed you, but also Mom and Lloyd.

    OK, a poem it is:

    Birthday Greetings Lauren Dear!
    39, now that’s quite near,
The big four-oh, so make sure you,
Make the most of youth’s last dew

As poems go, that one sails right down the pan. But then it is just what came out of my fingers. They have minds of their own, and apparently no poetic ability whatsoever 🙂

    Happy Birthday to Lauren!
    We’re glad you were bor-en.
    Have a wonderful day.
    With four-year-olds: yea!
You live in a state full of co-ren.

Ooh, that one is pretty poor.
    Happy Birthday, Lauren!

Dang I forgot I was supposed to rhyme…

      er…

      Happy day to Lloyd’s wife.
      It’s an excellent life.
      For dinner you’ll have Chinese.
      Even seconds if you please.
      Amen.

(We’re Lutheran, everything that ryhmes ends in, Amen.)

Lloyd’s bringing home Subway, God bless him. Yum!

Sorry about the double post, everyone, and thanks for the wishes! It all went haywire when I tried to change the timestamp this morning. Looks to be a good year.

HA! I wouldn’t have even noticed if you hadn’t said anything. I think I need more sleep (shocker, I know). 😀
