A futile trip

February 24, 2009 by Lauren 17 Comments

I dashed into Lincoln tonight to run a few errands, and was mostly disappointed by it all.

They didn’t have my hairspray at Shopko, and the curtains I bought there are not going to work out. (That’s another post for another day, so don’t ask.) Stupid hairspray. Stupid not-measuring-before-you-buy.

At Sam’s they had the food I needed, and when I went to the clearance area I almost flipped out with joy! They had the OmniWool socks I’ve been looking for! ($15 for three pair, and they are so soft and warm! I bought a pack at Christmas and have since regretted not getting more.) A whole big box of them!! I was going to buy them all …… except that these were ‘Large’, and I need ‘Medium’. I looked and looked through this box three times in vain. To document my sorrow I quickly took a picture. Stupid wrong-sized socks.

Seriously? Not one medium-sized pair in the bunch?

Then, on the way home, I turned the radio to 87.7 to listen to NBC, as is my custom, and all I got was static. Stupid television stations switching their signal to digital….. grrrrr…..

shhhhhhhhshhhhhshhhhhhhhhshhhhh

The evening wasn’t a total loss, though. My folks made it all ok in the end. When I got home there was an envelope in the mail, and inside:

Hi, Mom!

It’s my mom on a stamp!! Thanks, you guys! All’s well that ends well.

Does OmniWool come from OmniSheep? I’d like to see one of those!

I’m a little worried about meat-eating sheep. Now instead of going to a nice peaceful sleep when I start counting sheep, I’m going to have those falling asleep nightmares… like where you jerk yourself awake.

I’ll check out our Sam’s here when I go next to see if they have M omni wool. That is the thing about Sam’s, though. They have what they have… and when it’s gone you don’t know when or if it will come back. We got these wool socks that worked perfectly for Daniel & Leo. We bought like 12 pairs, but alas, we go through them like crazy! None this year. Oh well.

Would ‘Omniscient OmniSheep’ make you feel any better? 🙂

I don’t know if this will get in the right place. Deanne, could you count nightmares instead of daymares as they trot by?

Couldn’t you just buy the L ones and wash them in hot water? And then dry them on high?

That would make them M, I bet.

Couldn’t you just snip off the toe ends & sew the ends back up? Just think of the endless possibilities of things you could make with those toe ends!

So Lauren, are you ready for the finale tonight? I’m already missing the Italian with 9 fingers.

I took a little nap so I can stay awake for it. I hope Carla wins – in honor of our own Karla!
