Um, I’m going to need me one of these.

June 10, 2009

A while ago we were tooling around Omaha and saw a really interesting subdivision. This plat seems to indicate that it was built in 1978, and that meshes perfectly with what the picture of one of the kitchens looked like (the house was for sale; there was a flyer). Anyway, it appears that they put some expensive houses at whatever angle would permit the most trees to remain. It’s like the houses just grew up in a forest. It’s amazing. The landscaping all keeps up the illusion. Our yard has as much lawn as a half dozen of these homes.

Can you find the house?

But the coolest thing I saw was an old mine cart. I’m going to need one of these, And I’m going to need your help to get one (I’m looking at you Colorado). It would be best if it came with a small section of mine cart track, but I can get along without that for the time being.

You load 16 tons and what do you get? A dnam fine lookin' lawn ornament.

Shall I plant a forest in your yard this summer? It will take a while for the trees to look like that picture.

Yes, and I think he’d like you to install a coal mine also. Can you swing that in a few weeks?

That would be awesome! You could set up scarey things inside & give rides…people would come from all over & you’d be rich!

We’ve been talking about going for a more “natural” look for the yard and less of a “yard” look.

I especially like the idea of things decomposing.
