Whew. I was starting to write a lame-o post about our day at the auction, when I had to go out back to fact-check one of the boxes of stuff. There was a monarch butterfly resting on the screen door, and it followed me inside! AHHHHHH!!!!!
There was much jumping and hooting and running around on my part. Lloyd looked at me like I was crazy, which is to say – he looked at me, for I am crazy.
Then he took care of it. Not ‘took care of it’ like that – he caught it in a paper bag and let it go outside, but not before I performed some really helpful tasks, like moving a ladder and putting on a jacket.
As Lloyd came back inside he said, “Is this going to be your post?”
“Yes.”
“You going to write about the hooting?”
*sigh* “Yes.”
(I’m not brave like Tara.) Bugs creep me out!

People think butterflies are harmless little creatures who visit flowers and help in the important job of pollination. But who knows what evil they can do?
Nobody ever suspects the butterfly.

Brad, the depth of your pop culture knowledge is really impressive.

I’m noticing the new photo. Someone really ought to cast that in plaster.

I hate bugs too…and anything with wings makes me run for cover! Well you know how they say if you’re nervous about talking in front of a large group, you should picture them all in their underwear…well, I try to use a similar analogy when there’s a pesky insect around. I picture this buzzing around:

Ha! It took me a minute -- shows how slow I am.

The bug that I dealt with today wasn’t as benign as a butterfly. I had just put steaks on the grill and was bringing the ‘raw meat’ plate back into the house when I saw a HUGE hornet/yellowjacket fly into the garage. Fortunately I saw were he/she landed and was able to grab the bug spray. Killed that thing dead. I wanted it dead, dead, dead so that it couldn’t sting Matthew or the missuz.
Others agree about bees, wasps and hornets: http://awkwardfamilyphotos.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/aric-dsc_97240.jpg

Ha!
Lloyd's Mom says
He should have grabbed the camera instead of the paper bag.
Lloyd says
I tried catching one with a camera once. The shutter delay is too long with a digital camera, and besides, butterflies think that it steals your soul.
