Lloyd’s choir had their first concert of the weekend in Beatrice, Nebraska tonight. (It’s pronounced ‘Bee-AT-riss’ around these parts, credited to a brass-voiced railroad conductor. It’s also the birthplace of Gene L. Coon, creator of the Klingons. Thank you, Wikipedia.)
They sang very well! No pictures, because I was self-conscious with my camera. The concert was a collection of American songs & hymns that were beautiful. In the past the choir has sung difficult, traditional Lutheran music – motets and whatnot – but I liked these songs. Simple, well-sung – one was so moving, it made me cry. Brad, you should have been there. Oh, wait – you were. (We texted during intermission.)
I did some shopping in Beatrice, which will be a future post. All in all, an enjoyable evening, even though there were no Klingons.
