(Sing in your best country voice – the tune doesn’t matter.)
Oh, I came home from my meeting
to find shards upon the floor.
Why’d you bust my dishes?
Don’t you love me anymore?
I thought Corelle was unbustable,
turns out I was so wrong.
Now I’ve got dirty, busted shards
to help me sing my song.
OH!
Dirty, busted shards!
Once you covered spaghetti.
Dirty, busted shards!
Like Mario Andretti –
You raced across my floor
and covered it with broken glass.
Sticky pieces stuck to wood,
such a pain in the…
Dirty, busted shards!
All over the room.
Dirty, busted shards!
Lloyd ‘couldn’t find the broom’.
(one more time)
Dirty, busted shards!
I’m not gonna quar-rel.
Dirty, busted shards!
I’m gonna sue Corelle.
(Repeat until out of beer and trucks.)
Brad says
I haven’t dropped any of my Corelle dishes yet. I’ve almost done it on purpose just to test them, but I don’t have any spares.
Sorry about the glass all over your kitchen floor. I guess it’s time to move, huh?
Beth says
Yea. Corelle is unbreakable. Until it isn’t. And then it breaks like not other glass. Ever.
(So. Did you find your broom?)
Rae says
I’ve busted Corelle myself. My eight piece place setting is one plate short of a full set. For me that is enough cause to buy new dishes. Sam doesn’t fully agree. So don’t dare be the eighth person in my dinner party cuz you’ll have to eat on a Pooh plate!
Peggy says
HAHA…I can just invision it…’We’re short one plate…so someone will have to take a plate with poo on it!’ HA!
Karla says
I think we’ve found the next way to call someone crazy… Instead of a few slices short of a loaf, a sammich short of a picnic, it’s a plate short of a full set. 😉
Kristi says
Did you drop it, or did Lloyd do something wrong and you threw it at him?
Lloyd says
I dropped it. I was going to clean it up, but I couldn’t find the broom. Then Lauren came home and said, “Oh good, a post.”
She also said that the broom was in the basement, but I had been to the basement and didn’t believe her.
Deanne says
And… was it in the basement? Brooms can be very hiding creatures.
Peggy says
HA…Great song!!! And I’m curious too…how’d the dish(es) break? Is Lloyd taking up juggling? Sorry for the mess…but that 1st picture is quite artsy.
Gretchen says
Time to break out the grout and make a mosaic.
Lloyd says
You know, we do want to change the kitchen counter-tops. Maybe we could do them entirely in broken dish mosaic. Of course, it would be hard to tell when there was a new broken dish.
Lauren's Dad says
Mom’s white Corell bowl turned into much tinier shards and bunches more! Remember……..? :>)
Lloyd's Mom says
We’ve dropped our share over the years and the only thing I’ve found to keep the shards out of little feet is to damp mop the floor. A broom never picks them all up. Mothers lore that you probably all know already!

I wish to warn others of the severe medical problem that happened to me from sharks of broken Corelle dinner plate -- they were not old plates!
Here’s my experience: A drinking glass accidently feel from the kitchen cabinet onto a Corelle dinner plate that was on the countertop below the cabinet. The glass did not break but the plate exploded and broke into thousands of small, very sharp shards that scattered everywhere in the kitchen.
In cleaning up, I got one shard in my foot but another landed in my breakfast bowl that was at least five feet away at the other end of the counter. I did not see anything in my bowl but after cleaning up the counter and the floor I put oatmeal into the bowl, and while eating, I immediately felt a sharp pain from the shard poking into my throat.
Well, six months have passed and I have been to two clinics for x-rays, fluroroscopy, catscan (more x-rays), and ultrasound. The porcelain is invisible by all of these techniques, meaning that the otolaryngologist (ENT, ear-nose-throat) cannot locate it, therefore he cannot operate to remove it. It is causing me severe pain and psychological stress.
Besides the throat, I have to have surgery on my foot to remove the shard from it, a problem I postponed because the surgeon told me that I will have to wear a boot and be on crutches for three weeks -- I have had no time for that.
I wish someone had a realistic suggestion as to how the otolaryngologist can find it!
Looking forward to hearing from others about this. A Google search using Corelle shards will turn up many others who problems with this dinnerware. I think it should be banned. Here’s one example:

Complaint
Throw away all your Corelle Ware dishes they can become a hazard after they age. I just exeperinced an explosion of a casserole dish that caused multiple cuts and lacerations after a small tink from the lid when removing from a cupboard.
One of many complaints.
I’m not thinking about join a class-action suit about this problem, but I want a solution to my health problem.
Lauren says
That is miserable -- I can’t imagine having something sharp stuck in my throat like that for so long. You are definitely in my prayers so that this can be resolved!
PAULETTE says
I REALLY CAN RELATE TO THE CHARDS OF GLASS CAUSE YOU WILL STILL BE FINDING PIECES YEARS FROM NOW. BUT MY QUESTION IS AM I THE ONLY PERSON WHO HAS CORELLE DISHES THAT ARE LOSING THE DESIGN PRINTED ON THE PLATES. AND NO I HAVE NO DISHWASHER,AND I HAVE HAD THESE DISHES FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS.
