Has this ever happened to you?
Lloyd and I had gone for a walk* last Saturday, and after we came home my big toe started to itch rather badly, then it hurt very specifically for a few minutes, then it hurt A LOT, then it was fine.
I checked it the next day and there was the bruise. I believe this is the second or third time this has happened to me. Is this called a toe aneurysm?
* A note about the walk. Our little grocery store is about 5 or 6 blocks away. On rare occasions we walk to the store, and I feel super-healthy…. but then we walk back. Do you know what is between our house and the store?
Dairy Queen.
Not the ideal exercise regimen.

Maybe you were bit by a spider and your toe is going to fall off. Would you keep it in a jar if it did? It would make a great Halloween prop.
Peggy says
Or a cool cupcake decoration…
Btw: Ouch! This has never happened to me…an itch following by pain followed by a bruise…on a toe. Hmmm…to the internet.
Lloyd says
I am not quite as old as Lauren, so I have not experienced this yet.
Beth says
That exact thing. In the very same place on my own big toe has happened to me. Roughly once every 4 years. Weird.
And the Pain. Is. Searing.
Gretchen says
Maybe it is “the gout.” I’ve never had it but I know it affects toes and is quite painful.
Peggy says
I think Gretchen may be right. Lauren--DO NOT look up images of Gout. You’ve been pre-warned.
Annette says
Strap a DQ BLIZZARD to your toe and you’ll be fine!
Curt says
Oh yeah…..I have seen this before. It is called “rock in the shoe syndrome”. Starts with an iche (athletes food, unrelated to the rock), starts hurting a little, then hurts a lot, take off shoe and stops hurting and notice a bruise on your foot. Yup, rock in the shoe syndrome.
