So, in keeping with last year’s Thanksgiving tradition, I have a cold. (Everyone in Nebraska has one, so it’s no big surprise.) Food was made, but it was sub-par.
Let’s back up in time to Tuesday. I decided to take some non-drowsy cold medicine, and couldn’t figure out why I was so groggy all morning. Later I found out that I had mistakenly taken the nighttime stuff. It wasn’t so bad, though – nothing the children did bothered me at all.
I came out of my haze at breakfast to a conversation that I feel is important to pass along to you. The children were talking about Christmas coming.
Austin: “He lives in a cloud and he always watches you.”
Madison: “That’s not true. He lives at the North Pole.”
Austin: “He’s really real. He watches you every. time.”
Conner: “Guess what? My dad used to work for Santa, and he has a lot of secrets, and I know them.”
Madison: “Can you tell us?”
Conner: “No. I can’t tell no one. It’s a secret. If I tell you guys, Santa will be mad.”
I chuckled in my medicated haze. I’m sure there was more, but I don’t want to get Conner in trouble with The Man In The Cloud.

Thinking about Santa watching all the time makes me hear “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” in minor in my head. Just look at the sinister lyrics:
You better watch out
You better not cry
Better not pout
I’m telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

Sort of speaking of which, I was thinking of doingHere Comes Santa Claus for my Christmas Carol Chapel.

I did “The Twelve Days of Christmas” for chapel a couple of years ago. It was well received.
