Well, we went to the Rivoli to see The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, but then we noticed everyone putting on these funny looking glasses…
The nice guy who own’s the place gave us our money back, and we’ll try to see it today. That is, if we can find somewhere that’s showing it in just two of the D’s. We’ve seen one movie in 3D, and didn’t really care for it. We’re avoiding 3D movies for the time being. Did you hear that Hollywood?
The reason that we’re going to the movie is that I’m taking all of the middle schoolers to see it next Wednesday (okay, not just me). I wrote up some lesson plans for everyone to use before and after, but I wanted to make sure that my after stuff worked with whatever silly changes that they made for the movie.
Oh well, at least we got this cool picture of our feet out of the deal…

I share your distaste of 3-D. I did not, however, leave the movie last night when they gave me the glasses. At my school, we’re seeing the movie on Monday.
I can finally put into words why I don’t like 3-D: I am not able to focus on any one thing while wearing them. I wanted to look at some details on the set in one scene, and my eyes kept sliding away. It was quite disturbing. If I didn’t so desperately desire to see the movie, I would have left.

What does it cost to take kids to see a movie in Baltimore?
Brad says
$6 for the movie and $8 for the bus.
Lauren says
8 bucks?!? Is the bus made of gold??
Brad says
Well, it is yellow.
Seriously, bus costs are now the biggest part of the cost when we plan field trips now. If we travel to Annapolis, Washington DC, or Philadelphia, bus costs can get as high as $20 per student.
I should buy a bus so I can rent it out.
Lloyd says
I think our movie tickets were $6.00 too, but we went with $10.50 for Ticket + Popcorn + Drink. Our bus cost is something less than $0.75, but we have a theater that is less than 10 blocks from the school (there is also a roller skating rink about 10 blocks in the opposite direction. It’s like the perfect location for a middle school).
Beth says
3-D makes Harold vomit. True story.
Kristi says
What movie?
Lauren says
I was so glad we didn’t stay because I was very, very tired. Ah…. in bed by 9 on a Friday -- that’s the life!
Jane Sommerer says
Boy, 10 blocks is how far? More than the boys walked to catch the bus. Sounds like good exercise except for the worry about stragglers.
Lloyd says
We could definitely walk. It might even be faster than the multiple bus trips that we do now. I’d say they are both between a mile and a mile and a half away. But, if we planned on walking, it would rain. There is a bike path that goes all over Lincoln that goes right by school and would take us most of the way to either place.

There is a theater pub about ten blocks from my house. Three dollars gets you in, and then you can buy a pretty good burrito or nachos or popcorn and a beer and watch the movie. 3-D movies cost you $5, but the beer is the same price. I don’t think they would let kids drink beer though.
Lloyd says
We need a theater that serves beer for Bad Movie Night.
