I am a big believer that whenever the opportunity to stay in pajamas all day presents itself – take it. It’s like pretending that you’re sick and “resting” all day. Lloyd and I did that today, and it was wonderful. Jammies, computer games, movies and napping. Ahhhhh.
I did manage to do one thing, though – my mom’s new year’s resolution: throw out old spices. So, you can cross that one off, Mom.
I have a divider thing in a drawer and then half of one cupboard shelf filled with spices, which is very funny since I know zip about spices. (Except that I don’t like tarragon and Lloyd doesn’t like rosemary.) When I cook I just shake Simon and Garfunkel titles into the food and hope for the best.
I sorted them out, tossed the empties and ‘clumped-into-a-spicy-brick’ ones, cleaned the spilled spices and seeds out of the divider, then put it all back.
Lloyd did a little work, too. He swept and mopped the floor while singing a song about “I’m-a sweeping the flo-or…” to the tune of La Bamba, but he has threatened to sue me if I show you the video recording.

Old spice. Ha!
I should probably do that, too. I get specific spices for single recipes, then never use them again.

I listened to Simon and Garfunkel while cleaning yesterday.

Congrats on the accomplishments! What did you use ground marjoram(?) for?
I’m envying your drawer dividers. What’s the white, wavy thing in the top right section? It’s next to the meat thermometer.
Lloyd says
In that particular drawer, if you’re ever in doubt about a utensil, it’s probably a pizza cutter.
Lauren's mom says
….or a vegetable peeler.
Lauren says
Yes, it’s a pizza cutter. I can’t believe that hasn’t been a post yet -- I’ll do that for tomorrow.
As for what I use the marjoram for, I have no idea. Spices evade me. I actually have no idea what thyme, sage, marjoram, rosemary or ‘poultry seasoning’ taste like. I just shake.

But I want your next post to be about your camera and what kind it is and all it’s cool features and why you chose it in the first place!!
So will that be your next post after the pizza cutter? Please? 🙂

An excellent Saturday indeed!!
And I too am envious of that spice holder thingy. I’ve never seen one like that. I need to clean out all my cabinets. I’ll get to it…I’ll get to it.
Beth says
It’s a good thing you got a fancy new camera that could take a picture of all those spilled mustard seeds so clearly…
Beth says
Heh. Turns out if you accidentally put your email address in incorrectly you lose your gravatar…
