Lloyd and the Amazing Single Colored Dreamcoat

February 23, 2011 by Lauren 11 Comments

Lauren bought me a new good coat for Christmas.

I tried to wear my old good coat a few months ago, and it had not gone well. Popular consensus was, “You can’t wear that anymore.” It was a shame, because I really liked my old good coat. But it had evidently shrunk over time.

I don’t remember exactly when I got my old good coat. It was either my senior year in high school or early in my illustrious college career. I told my mom that I needed a good coat and that I would take really good care of it, and that it would last a long time. She said that if I would pay for half of it, she would pay for the other half.

I remember the store where we bought it. It was a clothing store that I don’t think I was ever in before in downtown Jefferson City. I’m pretty sure that it cost just slightly under $200.00. It lasted over 20 years. Well played coat. Well played.

Lauren told me that January was a good time to buy coats, so we went to the usual stores: Penney’s, Dillard’s, Men’s Wearhouse and Yonker’s. Did you know that you can pay $895 for a coat? I didn’t. In fact, my new good coat also cost just under $200.00. It was 65% off, and this time I didn’t even have to pay half.

I really liked the herring-bone (I think) pattern of the old good coat, but I don’t think they make it anymore. This is the black with the occasional lighter thread in anticipation of future cats.

His eyes seem to follow you around the room, too. He’s very realistic. 🙂

Which coat will you be wearing to Narnia?

Aren’t you supposed to wear fur to Narnia?

Now that I think about it, how did that not freak out all the Narnians that the Pevensies were all wearing animal hides? I hear radio commercials for a fur coat shop here in Baltimore, and they mention sheared beaver fur all the time.

Oh, I think you’re right. Fur is what it’s supposed to be. I still think Lloyd would fit right in.

And…. with a name like Lauren on the tag, it has to be good.

Lloyd, you look so dapper & distinguished in your new coat! Very nice! You’re looking very Colin Firth-ish, minus the crown…and I’m guessing a butler would remove the tag for his highness.

(and I agree, I just hate it how clothes shrink with time! HA!)

The new coat is awesome. Looks great! I don’t remember the price of the old one but I do remember going with you and I think you were still in high school at the time. 20 years is remarkable,

Firstly the new coat (and old coat) is very becoming. Lloyd. I want one of them so I can pretend to be Doctor Who.
Secondly so much COOL stuff in your house to look at.
Whats the deal with the lamp? Does it work? Or is is there for cool posing?
Why have you got a tnt explosive thing (I think thats whats it is) next to the lamp? Are you going Melrose on your place?
Finally, which one of you is the solitaire fan? (again I think thats what it is…)
Great pics and extra points for the movement.
