The Most Wonderful Day of the Year

March 19, 2011

It was a big day for Lloyd – Fantasy Baseball Auction Day! Woo-hoo! He was busy last night getting all the stuff ready, and this morning we got up bright and early to see if Albert Pujols had left any presents.

Lloyd had to check Brad’s website from my computer since his was packed up by the door with all his magic baseball information inside.

That's right - a Hawaiian shirt.

We made a little detour by church to pick up a surprise….

I ate part of one before I remembered to document.

Donuts from the youth group fundraiser! Thanks, Lloyd, for making FBAD fun for me, too. 🙂

Once in Lincoln, I helped get equipment set up, then sat down to watch as the Boys of Summer began their fun. (Not really. I was doing some school paperwork and figured that if I got through half of it, I could treat myself with a trip to Target.)

Hmmmm.... these screens aren't quite big enough....

Once again, it was Saturday and I found myself sitting by Curt at an auction. This is starting to be our thing now.

He was doing some serious bidding.

It was a magical, magical day. Baseball, soda, pizza, a trip to Target – oh wait, that was just me. Whatever. Magical all ’round.

“Fantasy” baseball? Is that where people dress as characters from beloved fantasy novels and movies and play baseball? I would definitely bid on the chance to dress in my Eragon costume and play. Wait… Does “Twilight” count as a fantasy novel?

    • Lauren Said on:

Or maybe have Lloyd dressed in a white tuxedo to welcome the auction participants. “My friends, I am Mr. Sommerer, your host. Welcome! to Fan-ta-sy Baseball!”

  2. Lloyd Said on:

As it turned out, the screens were not quite big enough. We had to move them closer after the first 50 players were auctioned off.

Those wouldn’t happen to be Krispy Kreme donuts, would they? If so, I am very, very, very envious.

    • Lauren Said on:

They are! They have a fundraiser number on the box: 800-457-4779. We don’t have a Krispy Kreme, and I don’t think there’s one in Lincoln, so maybe these came from Omaha?

Who’s that guy in the first picture? Because his hold-hat-run-hand-through-hair mannerisms look like Brent. But Brent doesn’t have dark hair.

  5. Peggy Said on:

    I love fantasies….but they don’t involve baseball!

My son does Fantasy Football….but I still don’t know what it is exactly. All I know is everyone’s fantasy here in Balto., is for the Orioles to go to the World Series.
