I want to begin this post by saying that even though I am going to complain, I am totally and completely aware of how good my life is. I’m going to whine about it being hot in my house, even though I have the ability, capacity and electricity to turn on the air conditioner. It’s not like my town has been devastated by a tornado and I can’t turn it on, I just haven’t.
With that being said: It is hot in here! Temperatures the past two days have been in the 90’s, for cryin’ out loud! (Outside. 81 in here, 87 upstairs.) It’s supposed cool down as the week goes on, so it’s kind of silly to turn it on, but holy cow.
Before I came home tonight I was debating over mowing the yard because it was too hot, but then it was so muggy in the house it really didn’t seem to be any more trouble to change clothes and sweat outside.
Anyway, yard is mowed, I am showered, and the windows are open now because it’s finally cooler outside than inside. Yay for windows that open! And yay for windows with a safety lock because I’m crazy paranoid during the night!

My advice, which you didn’t ask for, is this: Get a window a/c unit for your bedroom.
We’ve had a couple of hot days here: I close my bedroom door, turn on the window unit, and set the timer to turn off in three hours. It’s deliciously cool when I’m trying to go to sleep and it stays that way until morning.

Our solution has been to move to lower levels of the house. We are now on the main floor. I’ll have to ask the spiders to leave before Lauren will sleep in the basement.

We hit 99 degrees on Monday. H-O-T! That made for the worst night of sleeping. We refused to turn on the AC and just opened the windows right before going to bed. Bad idea.

I find keeping an outfit or two in the freezer for times such as these very helpful. Be warned: unfolding frozen clothes is a little tricky.

It was 43 degrees when I got up this morning (and raining). It is now noon and it has climbed up to a not-so-warm 56 degrees. So look out, Nebraska! Cooler weather is on the way!
I hope it warms up a little here, so I can plant my flowers…

Today I wore my down jacket. Seattle is having a slow start to spring. I’m still nervous about bringing my plants out.
