(Yes, that’s an old photo. This post is about what I’m wearing.)
Last week I bought a tank top and – of all things – a skirt at Target. I was astonished that I would buy something so girly, but when it’s so crazy hot here I am too hot in capris, but have a crisis of confidence when it comes to shorts. A skirt seemed like something zany to try, and I love these!
They are Target’s Merona brand skirts, and are made from stretchy jersey. I was telling Lloyd how I like them and actually look fairly dressed up. He responded, “Dressed up? Those are basically t-shirts for your thighs.”
Whatever. Like he knows anything. I like how they make me look like I’m making an effort, but surprise! I’m not even wearing pants! I feel like I’m pulling a big joke over on everyone.
The crisis is that I can’t wear a skirt when I go back to preschool next week. I’m up and down on the floor so much, and I don’t have a pair of shorts that I can wear under these that will make me feel l’m not flashing everybody. So, the goal is to wear this outfit every day of my vacation.
That’s right. I wash it out at night and wear it again the next day. (Unless it’s a day like Saturday, where I never left the house.) I’ve tried it on it’s own and with things like a belt and a sweater, and I’m sure it looks completely different every day! Just kidding, what I’m sure about is that nobody cares what I am wearing.
I figure I’ll get a dollar per wear out of the outfit, and that’s really what it’s all about.

Hey, I like the skirt.

Wait… You’ve been wearing the same clothes every day?

Not only do I like the skirt, but I like the tank top, too. Accessorize away!

Yay Lauren! I love my skirts too. Thanks for the tip!

That is so awesome to be able to come up with an outfit that is cool, comfortable, looks great on & can look different with just a small accent or two! Way to go!
Your post reminds me of a birthday card I got from my cousin one year….
At our age, I heard it’s good to start accessorizing….
(or is that exercising….whatever!)

I am into skirts now too. I wore one on vacation (we just got back from 10 days in Bavaria and camping in the Alps!) and someone thought I was DUTCH! Amazing! I took that as a compliment, instead of just looking like another American tourist.

This post reminds me of Gayle Grotjan -- in reverse. I kept track of what she wore for an entire semester. She never once repeated an outfit or accessory. I loved that woman. She was classy both in fashion and when she taught.
