Useless Doofus

September 2, 2011

At work I spray-painted one of our sand diggers and left it out on the playground to dry. Around 7:30 it started to rain, and I thought it might mess up my paint job. I asked Lloyd if he wanted to go along so I could get it under cover.

“Ok, but I won’t get out of the car,” he said, and just like that he headed out -without shoes. I followed suit.

I hurried, due to the rain, and in my hurry I stepped on something sharp. Dang.

Limp, limp, limp. Cover, cover, cover. Done.

Once home, I investigated the injury. It was on the outside bottom of my foot, just beyond my sight. I contorted and contorted, but couldn’t see it. I asked Lloyd to get the tweezers and help.

“Ok, but I won’t get out of the car,” he said. “Wait. What did you ask?”

He tried his best while I bit down on a washcloth. (It’s not that it hurt, it’s that I couldn’t see and it was Unknown.)

Lloyd: “I think I got it.”
Lauren: “Did you save it for a picture?”
Lloyd: “Um, I think I dropped it.”
Lauren: “On my floor where I’ll step on it again? Thanks, Doctor.”

I walked away and … OW! He didn’t get it! He just pushed it in deeper! I wound up having to dig it out of my foot by feel. (It was the awful grating feeling through the tweezers that was so icky.)

Well, it turned out to be a teeny tiny sliver of rock, not the tiger claw I thought it was, but thanks to me, you can see it for yourself.

As you turn it you can see its crystalline structure.

Happy Saturday. Don’t step on anything sharp.

What’s a sand digger? It sounds like a really unpleasant insect of some kind. You’re lucky you didn’t get a sand digger in your foot. They keep digging until they get to your brain. Then Kahn can control your mind.

    That sand digger is AWESOME!

I always wanted to drive one of these:

Not operate it, just drive it around. They’re so cute.

Sorry about the rock….I don’t think I’ve ever known someone who got a rock stuck in their foot. Ouch!!!!

At least you didn’t have to go to the doctor and have him dig it out!

That reminds me of when I wanted to go see my grandparents and somebody said he’d wait in the car.
