Ahhhhhhhh….

October 18, 2011 by Lauren 9 Comments

Tonight we’re going to have our first freeze. I can hardly wait!!

These cold nights are fantabulous for sleeping – I woke up at 4 and dropped right back like a rock, then my first alarm went off at 5 and I went right back like a rock until alarm 2 at 5:15. Unheard of!!

In other news, not one of my long-sleeved shirts does not have mysterious oil spots all over it. What is up with that?

Gonna be an oily winter.

Was it a tube of chapstick in the dryer?

We’re getting our colder weather this weekend, but not a freeze yet. I’m glad. I want to leave my houseplants outside a little longer.

Ahhhhh yes indeed! Cooler weather always welcome in this house too! Well, by me….not necessarily everyone else.

And I have asked what those spots are many times. One friend told me something that I forget now, but told me to SHOUT them out or put detergent straight on them & let it sit a bit. It didn’t work. It’s always made me feel like such a clothes washing failure. First, for ending up with the spots….second for not being able to get rid of them. Someone please help!

Yes! I’ve tried rubbing a bar of soap on them and letting it sit all night, but no luck. Tonight I’m going to round up all the shirts, throw everything I have at them, and if the spots are still there, I’ll burn them out. That should work.

Brad – I would have guessed that’s the culprit, too, except I don’t carry a chapstick in my pockets anymore. It’s a mystery.

Do you carry packets of oil-and-vinegar salad dressing in your pockets? If so, it could have been the salad dressing.

Dawn dishsoap. It cuts grease. Rub it in good and let it sit before you wash.

I don’t think the T-shirts actually have grease on them. They don’t when I put them in the washer. And I always pour my detergent into the water as the washer is filling up. I think my friend told me that it’s splats of detergent. ???

Either way, I’ll give Dawn a try. And thank you Amused Lurker!

Also, I never notice the spots until after the dryer….so is it too late at this point.

I would have recommended dishsoap, too, but the amused lurker beat me to it…
And no, even after the dryer it’s not too late. Though sometimes it takes two soakings/washings.

            Dish soap is my friend.

Ugh – I had the same issue with my shirts yesterday. Who’s the mysterious elf that goes around in our closets, claiming our clothing as his own? Down with the beast!

I don’t have Dawn, I have some eco-freaky stuff that is soaking it, and I’ll hit it with Shout before it goes in the wash. Thanks, everyone!
