I’m not a strong swimmer, so this isn’t a very good analogy for me, but lately I’ve been feeling like I’m swimming against a current: moving all the time but not really getting anywhere.
I haven’t been prepared for anything this week, and as soon as I bumble my way through one thing, there is a whole list of other things that I have to get to. When I look back on what I’ve accomplished, it doesn’t seem like it was all that much, yet I was always busy doing something. I’m currently just focused on getting through the day, with as little wasted motion as possible. *sigh* I hate wasted motion.
Whatever. This too shall pass, right?

I feel that way every year between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I know I sound like Scrooge, but it is painful. A spontaneous trip to MO is making things even more challenging, eh?
You are right -- this too will pass.

Hahaha! One of the comments on that video just made me laugh out loud. Here it is in all its misspelled and non-capitalized glory:
OK go: this to shall pass
Gandalf: except for? the bulrog! he shall not pass!

I can’t view the video, but that comment is hilarious and equally as clever!!
And Lauren, if it makes you feel any better….I’m in that same stream on many fronts. Hey, I bet we could start a convoy! Breaker, breaker good buddy!

It would be great if all of our motion produced something tangible like a handrail installed for the in-laws. Even with all its frustration you can look at the end product of how you spent your time and energy and it stays fixed as an accomplishment. Teaching preschoolers however nets you very few fixed accomplishments along the way. That’s a vocation of planting seeds you rarely get to see in their full bloom while swimming against relentless currents.

LOVE that song. It’s good to play it often!
