Deborah and Beth suggested that we all get together for dinner this weekend, and at first Deborah said she could bring food to our house, but then Lloyd had to go and get sick, so we decided to meet up at the Gebhardts’ house. I said I would bring the food.
Stupid me. Why did I say that? We all know that cooking for more than two people is not my strength. As it turns out, Sam came to the rescue with a comment he made when he was here – “Twirly dogs. It’s the only way to cook hot dogs.”
Perfect! In fact, I dragged Brad to the store with me to buy them and we bought all kinds of twirly food! Then we took them to the Gebhardts’ and had them cook the cookable parts, because I am the worst.
To make a twirly dog, you stick a skewer through a hot dog, then lay your knife through it at a diagonal and roll it across the cutting board. Take out the skewer and grill away! You can watch a video of it here. Spoiler alert: I am not in the video.
The menu:
Twirly hot dogs
Twirly cucumbers
Twirly Cheetoes
Twirly fries
Twirly ham rolls
If I would have had the time, I would have built a soft-serve ice cream machine for our twirly desserts, but had to content myself with Little Debbie snack cakes.
What else did I miss?
Brad says
The twirly dogs were delicious! As were the other twirly foods. I don’t know how you found time to bake those twirly cakes yesterday.
Peggy says
Wow, you guys are the BEST with coming up with themed parties!!
Alrighty then, along with the Puffcorn & orange circus peanuts, it’s now also twirly dogs for tonight’s dinner! (that video guy is funny) Do these foods make a theme? What if I throw in Mudslides?
Deborah says
All these foods make a theme of AWESOME!
