It’s the time of year again for Home Visits, where I go to all the students’ homes to visit with the children and their parents about what to expect the coming year. The children and I look over the daily schedule and then I tell them that basically I am no fun, since they have to leave toys at home. They seem to accept it pretty well. (The ones who are going to try to sneak toys in anyway will do so, but they don’t know that I have Envelopes. Envelopes = Toy Jail.)
Then I take their picture to put on their cubby. This year it’s been fun because I’ve also taken photos with the iPad, so at each visit I can show the child the other kids in the class. It’s been fun.
The very best part of the visit is that if they have a garden, I will most likely leave with something delicious. Tonight I received a beautiful tomato that will be tomorrow’s BLT. Last night was a first, though – an egg from Zane’s chickens. It’s pretty cool to hold an egg warm from the bird, but I’m a little afraid to crack it open. What if there’s a tiny bird in there and it puts me off eggs forever? I love breakfast too much to risk it.
I guess I’ll have to practice my candling skills, huh?
