Today was a workday at school – a morning full of meetings and the afternoon to work in our classrooms. I have a giant list of things to get done, and feel a little discouraged at how little was accomplished. We have a few more days, but I thought I’d be farther ahead.
I went back this evening to finish a job that has zero reward value. I replaced patterned, tan wallpaper with patterned, tan wallpaper. The old paper had a couple of rips in it that the children had slowly enlarged, despite my (outward) gentle reminders to ‘Please leave the wall alone’ for the umpteenth time while inwardly I was screaming ‘Holy cow! Quit picking at that! You kids are trying to make me have a stroke, aren’t you?’
If nothing else, this wallpaper will make me a better teacher. Or at least a calmer one.
The plus side is that I put in ‘High School Musical’ as I worked.
The big kids watched it on a movie day, and I was intrigued.
I highly recommend it. It’s like a non-skeezy version of Glee. It’s totally predictable, and I loved it.

Hmmm… I’ve never removed wallpaper before. Or installed it. I always heard such horror stories.

I only have it up because the wall behind it is such a mess. Long ago the kids had a big fire truck that they would drive on the little step and it made a big hole in the wall. That was my first ‘cut and replace’ drywall repair experience. It just needed to be covered.

Well done. I like the hanging globe. I used to have one up. I need to do it again. Thank you, Gil Daenzer.

Very well done!! You are a very patient woman!
I HATE removing wall paper. I turn into the Hulk whenever I’ve had to remove that devilish stuff.

just hearing about your pre-school preparation is going to give me nightmares. It’s a recurring dream about my failure to be prepared for school and subsequent anxiety -- and I’ve been out of the classroom for 9 years.
